President Draupadi Murmu urges new regime to put nation first

New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu has said that after six decades, a stable government with full majority has been formed in the country. People have expressed confidence in this government for the third time. People know that only this government can fulfill their aspirations. The President is addressing the joint meeting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha  after the formation of the eighteenth Lok Sabha.

President Draupadi Murmu congratulated all the newly elected members. She said that all of you have come here by winning the trust of the voters of the country. Very few people get this opportunity to serve the country and the people. I am confident that you will perform your duties with the spirit of nation first.

President Murmu congratulated the Election Commission for the successful conduct of the Lok Sabha elections. She said that this was the largest election in the world. About 64 crore voters have performed their duty with enthusiasm and zeal. The President said that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are being discussed all over the world today. The world is seeing that the people of India have formed a stable and clear majority government for the third consecutive time.

She said that the 18th Lok Sabha is a historic Lok Sabha in many ways. This Lok Sabha was formed in the early years of Amritkaal. This Lok Sabha will also witness the 56th year of adoption of the Constitution of the country. In the upcoming sessions, this government is going to present the first budget of its tenure. This budget will be an effective document of the far-reaching policies of the government and its vision for the future. Along with major economic and social decisions, many historical steps will also be seen in this budget.

During this, President Murmu mentioned many important issues including Emergency, NEET, farmers, CAA and economy in her address. The President said that the Emergency was the biggest and darkest chapter of a direct attack on the Constitution. During this, she also talked about the northeastern states and the army.

President (President Draupadi Murmu) said, ‘This was the biggest election in the world. About 64 crore voters have performed their duty with enthusiasm and zeal. This time too, women have participated in the voting in large numbers. A very pleasant picture of this election has also emerged from Jammu and Kashmir. Many decades of voting records have been broken in the Kashmir Valley.’ He said, ‘The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are being discussed all over the world today. The world is seeing that the people of India have formed a stable and clear majority government for the third time in a row. This has happened after six decades. At a time when the aspirations of the people of India are at the highest level, people have expressed confidence in my government for the third time in a row.’

The President said, ‘My government is of the opinion that there should be healthy competition among the states to attract investors from all over the world. This is the true spirit of competitive cooperative federalism. Development of the country through the development of the state, we will continue to move forward with this spirit.’

She said, ‘The resolve to Reform, Perform and Transform has today made India the fastest growing economy in the world. In 10 years, India has risen from the 11th position in the economy to the fifth position. Between the years 2021 and 2024, India has grown at an average rate of 8 percent.’

The President said, ‘My government is giving equal importance to all three pillars of the economy – Manufacturing, Services and Agriculture. PLI schemes and Ease of Doing Business are increasing investment and employment opportunities on a large scale. Along with traditional sectors, sunrise sectors are also being promoted on mission mode.’

She said, ‘More than Rs 3 lakh 20 thousand crore has been given to farmers under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi so that farmers can meet their small expenses. In the initial days of my government’s new term, an amount of more than Rs 20 thousand crore has been transferred to the farmers. The government has also made a record increase in MSP for Kharif crops.’

President Murmu said, ‘Nowadays the demand for organic products is increasing rapidly in the world. Indian farmers have the full potential to meet this demand. Therefore, the government is strengthening the supply chain of natural farming and related products. Such efforts will reduce the expenditure of farmers on farming and also increase their income.’

The President said, ‘Today’s India is known not for increasing the challenges of the world but for providing solutions to the world. As a world-brother, India has taken initiatives to solve many global problems. From climate change to food security, from nutrition to sustainable agriculture, we are providing many solutions.’ He said, ‘The coming time is of Green Era. My government is taking every necessary step for this too. We are increasing investment in green industries, which has also increased Green Jobs. Be it Green Energy or Green Mobility, we are working with big goals on every front.’

The President said, ‘Today India has the third largest domestic aviation market in the world. In April 2014, there were only 209 airline routes in India. In April 2024, their number has increased to 605. Tier-2, Tier-3 cities are getting direct benefit of this expansion in air travel.’

She said, ‘My government has built more than 3 lakh 80 thousand kilometers of roads in villages under the PM Gramin Sadak Yojana in 10 years. Today in India, there are more than 3 lakh 80 thousand kilometers of roads on National Highways and Expressways.
